Minneapolis, MN – Steve Hunegs, Executive Director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC) issued the following statement today expressing sorrow for the victims and survivors of the earthquake in Haiti:
“Our hearts are filled with sorrow today. Haiti, a small and impoverished nation not far from our coast, experienced a devastating shock. We continue to realize that with all the technological progress we have made in this world there is unspeakable suffering which we need to do our best to address, including this catastrophe.
“The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) is accepting donations online at www.JDC.org or by check mailed to: P.O. Box 530, 132 East 43rd Street, New York, NY 10017 Attn: Haiti Crisis. The Jewish Coalition for Disaster Relief, which is administered by the JDC, is establishing a special Coalition for Haiti.”
