JCRC Welcomes Recent Decision by DFL Progressive Caucus to Rescind its Resolution to Divest from Israel Bonds

Steve Hunegs, Executive Director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC) issued the following statement today welcoming the DFL Progressive Caucus’ decision to rescind its resolution calling for Minnesota to divest its holdings from Israel bonds:
“The JCRC welcomes the recent decision by the DFL’s Progressive Caucus to rescind its resolution calling on divestment from Israel bonds. As the Middle East’s only true democracy and a stalwart ally of the United States, Israel does not deserve to be placed in the same grouping as other repressive and hostile regimes. The United States and Israel have shared a close relationship for decades. This close relationship, based on mutual respect and shared values, with Israel has enjoyed broad bi-partisan political support. We must all continue to work toward the realization of two states living side by side; a safe and secure Israel; and a free and democratic Palestinian state.”
