Austin, MN - They know that they all look different and they are learning why that is a good thing. Painting self portraits is just one way kindergartners at Austin’s Woodson school are participating in the Color Project. The project is conducted by Tolerance Minnesota and is designed to teach children that they are defined more by what is inside of them than their skin color.

Schools right to teach kids tolerance (Austin Daily Herald)
Austin’s kindergarten students learned last week to accept diversity, a valuable lesson in our city’s changing environment. The Tolerance Minnesota project was brought to Woodsen Kindergarten Center. In it, children learned the science behind skin color and how the true test of a person comes not from that skin color, but from their personality.
