Today, Governor Tim Walz and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan joined with business leaders to discuss an ongoing public-private partnership to distribute four million masks across Minnesota in an effort to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

The press conference was held at Liberty Packaging in Hennepin County. Liberty Diversified International volunteered to play a critical role in the distribution and storage of four million masks to Minnesotans. Mike Fiterman, Chairman of Liberty Diversified International, spoke at today’s press conference.

“We applaud the actions of Governor Tim Walz and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan to distribute four million masks to businesses and Minnesotans across the state. We thank the Fiterman family for their generosity and role they are playing to improve public health for Minnesotans. In the midst of this grave pandemic, the Fitermans continue their longstanding commitment to philanthropy and leading by example,” said Steve Hunegs, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC).

Governor Walz praised Liberty Diversified International and the Fitermans for their contributions to the community and helping the state confront this pandemic while at the same time helping businesses remain safely open.

Mike Fiterman spoke about how his grandfather started the family business over 100 years ago and what an honor it is for his family to help Minnesotans in this capacity. Liberty Diversified International was asked by the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce to help and Mike stated that he and his family were happy to “step up.” Fiterman added, “We are stronger together.”
