Minneapolis, MN – Steve Hunegs, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC), issued the following statement:

“The Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC) applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for voting 400-19 last week in favor of a resolution expressing support for the U.S.-Israel relationship and the Abraham Accords in honor of the 75th anniversary of Israel’s founding. We thank Majority Whip Tom Emmer and his fellow Minnesota Representatives Angie Craig, Brad Finstad, Michelle Fischbach, Dean Phillips, and Pete Stauber; North Dakota’s Rep. Kelly Armstrong; and South Dakota’s Rep. Dusty Johnson for supporting the resolution.

“We also thank Sen. Amy Klobuchar for co-sponsoring a similar resolution in the Senate.

“We join this bipartisan expression of support honoring Israel’s milestone birthday and achievements, including its ongoing efforts to expand peace and cooperation with its Arab neighbors.

“We also thank Rep. Phillips, who traveled to Israel to celebrate its 75th anniversary as part of a trip to Israel and Ghana with Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies, for his steadfast leadership on this and other issues.”
